As we begin this first ever “Holy Week at Home” I am acutely aware of the serious hardships many families and our students are facing due to the pandemic. Although the UCC building is closed and we are separated by physical distance all of you continue to be in my thoughts and prayers every day.
The UCLA spring quarter began on March 30th. I am happy to share that our students have shown exceptional resilience during this remarkable time through prayer and fellowship using online tools. Our Catholic Bruins continue to initiate novel ways to bring everyone together.
I encourage you to take advantage of the many remote Catholic resources to worship with Pope Francis at the Vatican, Archbishop Gomez through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and your home parish. The UCC website www.uccla.org includes links to Masses at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, Bishop Barron’s Word on Fire daily Mass and the newest edition of the Paulist Fathers Busted Halo Holy Week video.
Lastly, I invite you to reach out and connect with me, Fr. Mark, and Sister Beatriz by sending your prayer intentions to us directly at [email protected]. It is our hope to walk with you during this journey. We will pray for each of you and your petitions as we receive them.
On behalf of the entire University Catholic Center staff, I wish you a healthy and happy Easter with your loved ones. May you stay safe in God’s grace.
Fraternally yours in Christ,
Fr. Jamie Baca, CSP
Director
